Roads Stopped: Orange Harvest Are Suspended in Brazil
The stoppages on highways throughout Brazil continue to occur and are beginning to impact the production of some foods. According to information confirmed by CitrusBR, some juice factories have already paralyzed activities. The scenario is being monitored by the sector, but the first information is that production has stopped because some truck drivers do not want to enter the roads at this time. In addition, harvests have been suspended and there is also some volume, not yet accounted for, of fruit that could spoil if the release takes too long. Notícias Agrícolas continues to follow the demonstrations.
According to updated figures from the Federal Highway Police, the number of demonstration points — between blocks and interdictions — dropped from 267, from the moment of a press conference in the late morning of this Tuesday (1), to 225 in the middle of the afternoon. Also according to the PRF, 339 demonstrations were undone at the same time. During the press conference, representatives of the PRF stated that a crisis office was set up from the first points of stoppage — the first being registered in Mato Grosso, still on Sunday night (30) — for the definition of protocols for the actions in the quest to return to normality. In addition, they also reported that the institution increased its staff by 400%.
